The coalition forces' service personnel in the Middle East and Afghanistan require cutting tools that can withstand the harsh demands of the desert environment. Specifically designed to blend into the desert, our Carson Desert Tactical Folders have been developed for this purpose.
The M16-14D Desert Big Dog features an aluminum frame in desert camouflage. The contoured handles are made of 6061 T6 aluminum, which has been hard anodized in a Desert Tan finish. The 3.875" (98 mm) blade is crafted from AUS 8 stainless steel, chosen for its edge retention and durability, and is coated with a highly corrosion-resistant, non-reflective titanium nitride in Desert Tan.
The blade's Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point Serrated edge allows for quick and efficient cutting through nets, webbing, and vegetation. Additionally, the knife boasts our innovative Automated Liner Safety feature. This locking liner safety mechanism sets a pin between the locking liner and the frame, providing an extra layer of security to prevent the locking liner from disengaging during use.
To close the knife, the user simply needs to pull the red-buttoned safety lever back, slide the locking liner over, and fold the blade into the closed position. This one-hand opening and closing action is the result of precision tolerances and lubrous washers at the blade pivot, ensuring a quick and smooth operation.
The dual ambidextrous thumb studs with checkered surfaces offer instant access in any circumstance, allowing for easy deployment of the blade. Please note that these knives are not designed for tip-up in-pocket carry.
The specifications of the M16-14D Desert Big Dog are as follows: Blade Length: 3.99" (101.35 mm) Edge: Combination Steel: AUS 8 Blade Finish: Titanium Nitride Blade Thickness: 0.14" (3.56 mm) Grind: Hollow Closed Length: 5.375" (136.53 mm) Open Length: 9.25" (234.95 mm) Weight: 5.3 oz (150.25g) Handle: Aluminum Style: Folding Knife with Locking Liner
The combination of strength and lightweight, provided by the aluminum handle, makes the M16-14D Desert Big Dog a versatile tool for use around the house, in the garage, or at the shop. Its cutting power, thanks to the Triple Point serrations, allows it to easily handle fibrous materials, while the Automated Liner Safety system ensures a secure and safe operation.
Designed by Kit Carson in Vine Grove, Kentucky, this knife is a reliable and practical choice for the service personnel operating in the demanding desert environments of the Middle East and Afghanistan.
